We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new product Ultra Caring Body Balm, the latest formula to join the Nursem range.

Ever wondered why traditional body moisturisers can leave your skin feeling drier or more out of balance than it was before? This is because they are not necessarily designed with filaggrin levels in mind.

Unlike traditional body moisturisers, our Ultra Caring Body Balm is formulated to help boost filaggrin helping to maintain a healthy skin barrier and prevent the discomfort of dry and sensitive skin through intensive moisturisation.

What is filaggrin and the dry skin gene?

Discovered in 2006 by a team of researchers at the University of Dundee, the dry skin gene is a condition affecting up to 10% of the population and 50% of people with eczema-prone skin.

This means your skin can have reduced levels of an essential protein called filaggrin which can cause a damaged, sensitive skin barrier that is prone to dryness and cracking.

This explains why traditional body creams don’t work all the time for all of us.
